The Immunology Group (IgG) is a new IrsiCaixa research group launched in 2020, led by Dr. Jorge Carrillo and composed of postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers passionate about their work. The group’s main research line is characterization of the immune response to infectious diseases (mainly, but not exclusively, HIV), cancer and autoimmunity. It is currently working on characterizing the humoral response to HIV and SARS-CoV-2, with special emphasis on identifying neutralizing antibodies and studying viral spread, and on the development of vaccines against challenging pathogens (such as HIV, Treponema and SARS-CoV-2), therapeutic antibodies and new diagnostic tools.
